Long lost blogs
Howdy! Sorry for the lack of blogs, the past couple of days have been crazy. Tuesday I had five visits scheduled and everyone was there (woo hoo!!!!!!!!!). After that I went to job #3 and we actually had a kid, weird for a Tuesday. I got home around seven and after Roy and I ate dinner Jeremy came over for awhile. He and I went out to karaoke and it was very entertaining as usual! I love watching drunk people sing! So much fun, especially the ones that think they are rock stars. Wednesday my day started off slow because one of my out of towners cancelled (thankfully before I drove all the way out to her house). One of my girls (who is 15) just gave birth to twins so I went to the hospital to visit her. They need a crib so I called a couple of places and found one at recycling for families. This program is awesome! They get donated furniture, fix it up and give it away to families in need. They just happened to have one so I filled out the paperwork and took it over for my girl to sign. I love it when I am actually able to help like that. So many times my girls need help with bills or furniture or anything and either our agency doesn't have resources or all the resources in town have been tapped out. That can get really discouraging so things like this make my week! Anyway, after work Wednesday I went to job #3 and we had 10 kids. One of them would not stop crying.......at all!!!! There was nothing that would comfort him and nothing was wrong with him so we just had to let him cry. It was awful because the other kids get stressed and start acting up or getting upset. I left with such a horrible headache!!! Today was less stressful although I got stood up a million times. My last visit was really good though, that little girl is bilingual and she can never remember my name so she just calls me senora. So cute!!! Anyway, I am in a good mood tonight, enjoying the weather and being home early. A co-worker is having a partylite candle party tonight but I just don't feel like going. That stuff is so expensive anyway and it seems like one of my friends or co-workers is having one every half hour! I did get some good votives at the last party I went to! Strawberry rhubarb and they are yummy!!!! Although I like the products they don't last as long as they should for how much they cost. I would rather have a Yankee candle or the mainstays brand from wal-mart (I know...wal-mart but they smell awesome and last forever!). Well, I'd better go find something for dinner, have a great night everyone!!!

Good to hear from you again! How old was the boy that was crying? If they are small and can't communicate, I suggest tylenol or motrin. If they only give it to him occasionally, it shouldn't hurt anything. They can't tell you when something hurts if they're too small. Maybe he had a headache, too. Ha! It's Thursday night and I've started my three day weekend. YEA!!! I hope everyone comes by to pay me tomorrow. Out of sight, out of mind. NOT! I know I'll get eventually - because I'm sure they want me to keep watching their kids! :)
He was about 18 months old. I checked him over and over, nothing was wrong he was just plain mad :-) He is upset everytime he's away from his mom, usually we have his 12 year old sister too and he wants her to hold him the entire time but she wasn't there so he was not a happy camper! Have fun on your long weekend!!! Anything special planned yet? Jealous am I!!! :-) Take care!
Every job should have some rewarding moments. glad yours had some this week. Bet you do a lot of praying on the job! Hang in there! -Aunt J
I agree about the Partylite candles. They don't last nearly as long as they claim, and the ones at Wal-Mart are a third the price (at most) and last forever! I do like some of the items at Partylite but it's like Pampered Chef or Tupperware...unless I find something uniquely useful or better quality, I won't shell out the money for it.
The latest thing around work is some Home Interiors ripoff. Waaaay overpriced junk no one needs.
Sounds like your job can be very rewarding at times. I would like that part of being helpful to those who need it but I couldn't take the frustration of knowing there are some things I cannot change or cannot help with.
I have heard of these Partylite Candle parties but I generally get Wally World or Yankee candles and I don't burn them. I have a mug warmer that slowly melts them. Candles last almost forever and you get more scent from them. Love 'em!
Have a great Friday and a terrific weekend! :)
I hadn't thought of using a mug warmer (I don't have one), but I have recently heard of a candle warmer - supposed to be safer. The latest thing people are selling around here has to do with the romance party stuff. Funny - but I like some of it!:) I like the home interior candles, but I usually get them for free or half price since Justin's mom still places orders once in while. She was big into selling home interiors several years ago. I buy the $1 Dollar General candles a lot, too.
I believe Jeffrey Allens sells the candle warmers. I keep meaning to pick one up...
The warmer I have was sold as a mug warmer slash candle warmer so hopefully it's safe enough. I never leave mine unattended anyways. It works great.
That's a good idea! I should try one of those.
